After four years of permit delays, construction and endless patience, the old Bissell building came alive once again this past weekend. Bissell House, a “casually upscale” restaurant owned by proprietor Roy Reeves, opened its doors for dinner Thursday evening.
The newly reconstructed building, a replica of the 1890s structure that burned and collapsed in the May 2005 fire, will house three businesses in addition to the restaurant, one with a storefront on Main Street and two below the ground floor that will be accessible from the rear. Eight one-bedroom apartments will comprise the second and third floors.

Every Tuesday evening through September 1 – and most Thursdays – Ballard Park comes alive with music. Concert Happenings in Ridgefield’s Parks (CHIRP), in it’s eight year, hosts a series of concerts ranging from classic music to twangy country and everything in between.

Four years ago, Patti Morris and Gretchen Seyba lamented the fact there had been no 20-year reunion for the class of 1984. After a sparsely attended 10-year reunion, Morris and Seyba wanted to arrange an event where classmates who hadn’t seen each other since the era of curfews and study hall could reconnect.

Summertime football draws three RHS alum.
A trio of recently-graduated RHS football players will take the field Friday as part of a 40-man team in the 13th Annual Hall of Fame Classic.
