We’ve Got Answers: Ridgefield’s Museum in the Streets

Museum in the StreetsThis “walking museum” is a patented, trademarked program founded in France in 1993 by Patrick Cardon.  Mr. Cardon worked closely with Kay Ables and fellow 300th Anniversary committee member Tom Belote to make Ridgefield the first town in Connecticut to feature The Museum in the Streets®.

Ms. Ables and Mr. Belote wrote each of the panel’s historical narratives, carefully selected photographs to accompany them and chose the locations. Most of the panels are situated in the center of town, although there are also panels in Titicus, Ridgebury and at the Branchville Train Station. All of the panels were permanently installed by the town of Ridgefield …

Our Family Dinner at 50 Coins in Ridgefield

My family and I just had dinner at 50 Coins, who happen to be a sponsor at Talk of Our Town. We had a great meal in a casual and fun atmosphere. We arrived at 6:30 pm and it was crowded with folks waiting by the door for tables to open up.  Good stuff.

The chicken Marsala wrap I ordered was juicy and flavorful.  My girls each had the mac and cheese (one of the many kids menu selections).  My son had a bacon cheese burger and fries (16 year olds can afford that calorie in-take), and my husband had a roast beef Au Jus sandwich.  Free re-fills of soda, quick and friendly service, and best of all, large flat-screen TV’s …

Is it too good to be true? Is there a shop in Ridgefield that combines elegance and charm with fun and even some practicality?  It’s no wonder that store owners Lisa Casagrande, Jeanne Rowella and Christy Kinsman have an abundance of repeat customers…one step into the shop and you’re hooked.  “The three of us all bring something special to the store from traditional to funky,” proclaims Casagrande.  There is so much to …

Today, Boxing Day, is the Super Bowl for those Seeking Bargains

Boxing DayDidn’t get all you wanted from Santa? Don’t fret. Today, Boxing Day, begins a whole new season of shopping.

Originally known as the Feast of St. Stephen (after the first Christian martyr), Boxing Day had it’s roots  in England where it served as a holiday for members of the merchant class to give boxes containing food and fruit, clothing and money to those less fortunate .  Many throughout the world keep the origin of Boxing Day alive by donating time and money to fill food banks and donate to the poor.  It remains a holiday in the UK, Canada and other Commonwealth nations. www.canada.com
