ZEN IN RIDGEFIELD
By Charlotte Alston Legg
The New Year always brings out the searcher in us. Year on year, I write ‘balance’ into my New Year’s Resolution, and, predictably, fall somewhere short just in time for the next year’s commitment. This year though, health will prevail. Ridgefield has become a mecca of Zen. For all attitudes and aptitudes, read on for what’s available to help you say NO to Road Rage!

Buddhi Mat Yoga, 66 Danbury Road - New to town, a great team of Power Yoga instructors will take you through a strength-based flow that is built on traditional Vinyasa yoga. Great classes in a gorgeous new space, you leave centered and powerful. Wanting more!
The Yoga Shala, 991 Ethan Allen Highway – an established and much-loved Mysore yoga studio, Yoga Shala teaches students at their own pace in order to learn sequences in an individual way.
There’s even some great options for Zen for Juniors. Yoga Shala offers Yoga for kids, ages 7 up. Pro football players, karate masters and the unbeatable UCONN Women’s Hoops teams swear that it’s yoga that builds the strength and focus required for winning, no matter the playing field.
A unique antidote for the high octane lives led by our youth, local Psychotherapist David Goldsmith (whose specialty is children and family relations) is offering an open Meditation Class for kids ages 8 to 11 at the Ridgefield Library on January 25.
I recently read a quote that sums up the quest for balance in a yoga pose: “Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.” See you in Savasana.
