How to deal with common problem areas

My butt is too big…

Try A-line skirts in dark colors with a lighter color top. If you have a small waist, play it up with a belt. Draw attention to your upper body with great color and accessories. Choose jackets that just to the hip. Trouser style jeans are a great option.

I’m busty…

Wrap dresses are a good choice. Pair it with a cami. Choose flowing fabrics and open neck lines for a flattering fit.

I wish I had a bust…

Accentuate your neck line by using color and accessories that draw attention to your face. If you enjoy ruffles, this is a fun choice for you. Halter tops will show off your shoulders and give you the appearance of width in the upper body. Choose the right bra to give you lift and fullness.

I can’t stand my stomach…

Get undergarments for various outfits. Some will smooth out the stomach and thighs, while others will minimize the entire mid section. Spanx has a variety of choices. Choose jeans that hit the waist or just below. Do not wear them too low. Try rouching in a dress or a bathing suit. Rouching in the waist and hip area of a dress is an excellent choice for you. If you are looking for a bathing suit, don’t get a suit with a skirt to cover, instead try one with rouching.

I don’t have a waistline…

You may have a rectangle shape figure. Try to create the illusion of a waist line by using belts and dresses with belts built in. Tops that have bands or an empire waist are a good choice. (No, it will not make you look pregnant!)

I have trouble finding petite clothing…

Try some regular sizes, in different brands. BCBG and some junior styles are good options. Don’t be afraid to experiment. All you may need is a hem and a good tailor. Do not wear long skirts, they will make you look shorter. Show off your legs with a shorter skirt.

I can’t find slacks long enough…

Shop for different brands and go to stores you never walk into. Ralph Lauren, Black Market/White House tend to have longer slacks. Pendelton makes clothing for tall women.

What looks good on one women and is the style of the season, might not be right for you. For example, a dress cut for a tall busty women will not flatter a pear shaped figure. Embrace your figure and wear what makes you look FABULOUS. Remember to use your accessories to give you polish and a finished look.
