Smile. It May be the Day of the CROCUS.

Ah, the crocus. The  name alone makes me smile.  This lovely flowering bulb is known as one of the heralds of spring.

To me, the crocus signals hope; for the first time, I’m able to see the forest through the trees.  Even though these pretty flowers often appear before old man winter has finished garnishing the ground with white powder, it makes me happy that spring and winter are at odds with one another. Finally. Of course, in March, I’m always rooting for what I hope is not the underdog, spring.

My quest today is to find the crocus, its stem fighting to break through the thawing dirt beneath the snow.

Please email Kerry@ridgefieldctblog.com if, by chance, you spot the light at the end of the long tunnel of winter-

The Crocus.
