In Balance Personal Training, Lisa Mose’s new fitness studio in Ridgefield, offers something different: an intimate group program for teen girls (ages 13-18) to learn to enjoy the physical benefits of regular exercise while building their self-confidence and emotional strength – tools they will need as they navigate the teen years and beyond.
Regular exercise is a basic necessity for everyone, but especially for growing teenage girls. As girls grow from tweens to teens, studies show that they tend to become less active, and feelings of insecurity and embarrassment of their bodies begin to develop. There are a multitude of reasons for this: fear of looking …

I’m a little late getting my monthly newsletter out this month. I wanted to give Talk of Our Town readers a preview of what will be included. The main focus of this month’s newsletter will be about why most diets don’t work and speak to my philosophy on diet and exercise. That content is only available to subscribers.
I also would like to talk a bit about some food we can eat… Sprouts!
In the spring season, seeds flaunt their vitality and energy by sprouting. Sprouts of all varieties contain the building blocks of life in the form of vitamins, enzymes, amino acids and simple sugars. …

Hi Everyone,

The issues that Food, Inc. delves into – what we eat, how it’s produced, who we have become as a nation and where we are going from here – are issues that affect all Americans.
Similarly, have you been watching Food Revolution on ABC? There is a food revolution just around the corner…. are you ready? It’s time to change the national standard for …

With that, Super-Dupe launches her journey to finding the cure. Call it the Siren Song of the Placebo. If it might work, it’s worth the attempt.
Local Honey. What could be wrong with a teaspoon of sweet every day? Experts and yoga instructors alike are calling local honey the antidote to all things pollen-induced. I’m telling you it’s delicious in everything from hot water to hot toddy. Get yours from Ed Weiss, who it turns …

Here, at the Garden of Ideas, we get our weather reports from Bill Felker, Poor Will’s Almanack He writes that:
Waiting for spring can be like trying to go to sleep when you have insomnia.
How true! In my 25 years of working outside, I haven’t seen a March like this. Our hoop houses are full of quickly germinating crops.
We currently have a delicious salad mix available, along with our own fresh eggs. By the weekend we should have arugula and some spinach. Radishes should be …

Do you eat breakfast in the morning? Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, or at least that’s what everyone tells you. There are many students or adults don’t even have breakfast in the morning. We, personally, know that most of our friends go to school on an empty stomach.
