Ridgefield Responds: Hope for Jacmel, Haiti

Yesterday, as I sat among 30 people, not only from Ridgefield, but surrounding communities, I saw how powerful the time and talents of some, could help many.  From T-Shirts and fundraisers to nurses and art exhibits, we can change lives.

Ridgefielders bond together for Haiti

When Hurricane Katrina hit, Ridgefielders Di Masters and Cindy Black set up a response team.  “The model is there but the situation is quite different,” says Masters.  Both Masters and Black are helping to coordinate efforts to aid those in Haiti.

The 7.0 earthquake that devastated the island nation’s capital of Port-au-Prince also leveled much of nearby towns like Jacmel. Ridgefield Responds: Hope for Jacmel, Haiti is being organized by Ridgefielders Betsy Brand and Lori Bova, in partnership with Isabel and Jonathan Chase, who started Share Joy International.

The Response Team now has a website where you can access up to date information about fund raisers and town activities benefiting Haiti. To learn more, please visit ridgefieldresponds
